two doves under crown antique fob seal - L'AMITIE
Make an impression with this small beautiful Georgian era fob wax seal depicting two doves, billing under a crown, which suggests constancy or respecting one another. The French sentiment at the top reads L’AMITIE which translates FRIENDSHIP
Please review the photos carefully as they are the most important part of the description. Also, some of the antique seals are very large, some very small, and I have carefully measured each, see below.
So much mystery but I'll leave the enjoyment of the research to you.
- approximate height - between 5/8” - 3/4“ (18mm) including the loop
- matrix measurement - 5/8” x 1/2” (16mm x 12mm)
- matrix - carnelian
- fob handle - sold to me as 12k yellow gold but I have not tested it
