This little basket began its life in the Victorian era, as a tiny fob wax seal pendant that originally held a pale blue glass intaglio of a tiny anchor on which sat a little bird barely held in a gilt basket fob. The antique basket fob was truly well loved and misshapen which caused the glass intaglio to pop out often. It was one of these times that I went to put it back but did something wrong and the glass intaglio shattered ... I've included a photo of the sad original.
I adored the details of the little basket, the little open weave basket around the top edging and the ribbed handle and I was shattered that it broke and I decided it needed to live on so I had it molded and worked with hot wax to impress just part of a spider web to create a new basket bottom that has been cast in sterling silver. The basket charm remains a bit misshapen and that's part of its charm.
Impressed with history!
