a really interesting, really unique and really large swivel locket style pendant ... a Victorian slide locket with tintype photo of a woman wearing a hat ... endlessly interesting antique jewelry

the locket itself is a thin brass, or other metal material with gold plating - an antique ormolu repousse - which has been pressed or embossed with a romantic scene ... two cherub putti lovers embracing and surrounded by flowers.
it measures 2 1/2" (65mm) tall, 2 1/8" (54mm) wide and almost 1/8" (3mm) thick when closed
the locket itself is constructed with 2 pieces of metal, the front and back outer scenes are the identical, and the locket is held together at the top with something that looks like a gold colored twisted earring wire and that is where the locket swivels or slides to open and reveal the tintype photo of a woman wearing a hat.  I'm hoping the photos explain the details I'm having difficulty describing.

the tintype photo inside, with a woman wearing a hat, is tucked within a spotty gold colored textured frame and measures almost 1 5/8" x 1 1/4" and is held in place with a small metal tab on the top and bottom of the photo frame.
I've gently lifted the lower tab of the locket and removed the tintype photo to reveal the squared notches near each of the 4 corners of the tintype photo.

the locket is suspended on a much more recent, likely vintage, thick gold colored 24" curb chain with a twist screw clasp.

see the last photo ... upon request, I can remove that gold colored wire and replace it with an antiqued brass colored jump ring with a dog clip (does not swivel and is not antique) and suspend the chain from that.

there are spots and other signs of wear and age throughout, as expected for something over 100 years old so please study the photos carefully.

it's quite likely that this was made in Germany, c.1890, by Erhard & Sohne

there are no returns on the antiques.
