The notable wax seal from which this charm was cast was a souvenir for the Great Exhibition of All Nations that took place at the Crystal Palace in London in 1851, the legacy of Prince Albert.
The Crystal Palace was built in Hyde Park, London to house the Great Exhibition of 1851. It was named the Crystal Palace for all the glass used in its structure, having the greatest area of glass ever seen in a building, allowing the building to be lit without lights.
The event was organized by Henry Cole and Prince Albert and it attracted over 14,000 exhibitors from around the world to showcase their manufactured goods developed during the Industrial Revolution. It was attended by more than six million people who arrived by train, horse and cart and on foot.
