Beautifully textured rosemary leaf dangle earrings … salvia rosmarinus ... endlessly interesting organic herbal jewelry.
One little leaf of rosemary can have some of powerful health benefits … it can improve concentration, digestion and brain aging. Its antioxidants can help to boost the immune system and improve blood circulation.
Rosemary is also often used in love potions … symbolic of loyalty, friendship, remembrance and faithfulness, it is often associated with weddings, funerals, fairies and witches. Historically, dating back to the middle ages, a bride might wear this love charm on her wedding day because of its powers of love and fidelity while mourners might carry it at a funeral as a sign of remembrance.
- approximate measurement - 1 3/8“ (35mm) including loop x just wider than 1/8” (5mm)
- the rosemary leaf is textured on both sides
- metal - sterling silver (.925 silver)
- photographed with a US dime and inch ruler for scale
In order to make the rosemary leaf thick enough for sand casting in sterling silver I had to glue 3 similarly sized leaves as one. After sand casting and finishing it was lost wax cast in sterling silver before finishing it up again in my own little studio ... hand crafted jewelry where how it's made matters.
The rosemary leaf necklace pendant, shown in the last photos, is available here
“The most basic and reliable love potion was made from anise, rosemary, honey and cloves boiled for nine hours. Called Love Potion Number Nine, it worked best on the ninth hour or the ninth day of the ninth month.” ~ Alice Hoffman, “The Rules of Magic” from the Practical Magic book series
