A new relic from an ancient relic ... a wonderfully rustic medieval hare seal relic intaglio necklace pendant.

The hare is surrounded by a Latin legend, in the reverse, that reads PRIVESV and translates I AM PRIVATE which was a common legend on non heraldic medieval seals and refers to the seals role in closing a private letter with sealing wax.
I've added a portion of a rustic quatrefoil key as a bail for the pendant because the quatrefoil was a prominent design element in medieval times, appearing in architecture, heraldry, and jewelry.
Very unique and meaningful medieval wax seal jewelry.

- approximate intaglio measurement - 5/8" (15mm) and 1" including the bronze bail
- thickness - 3/32" (3mm) so it's substantial
- intaglio seal charm metal - sterling silver (.925 silver)
- quatrefoil bow bail metal - bronze
- shown with a US dime and an inch ruler for scale
- charm only, chain sold separately
- shown on the thicker oxidized sterling silver cable chain available here

I've sand cast just the hare intaglio portion of a small medieval (14th - 15th century) bronze chessman wax seal, cleaned it up (see the 3rd from last photo of the freshly sand cast hare) and for interest added a tiny bronze quatrefoil skeleton key bow to serve as the attached bail.  Hand crafted one at a time in my little studio because how it's made matters.

The last photo shows the impression of the original medieval hare wax seal in sterling silver, available here, along with the original medieval chessman handled seal which is not available for purchase.
