The hare is surrounded by a Latin legend, in the reverse, that reads PRIVESV and translates I AM PRIVATE which was a common legend on non heraldic medieval seals and refers to the seals role in closing a private letter with sealing wax.
The hare is associated with fertility and rapid population growth it is symbolic of new life and rebirth … the hare represents renewal, the emergence of nature after a cold, dark winter, spring.

I've sand cast just the hare intaglio portion of a small medieval (14th - 15th century) bronze chessman wax seal, cleaned it up. Hand crafted one at a time in my little studio because how it's made matters.
