Its scientific name is acer, from the Latin meaning sharp, referring to its pointed leaves.

I’ve sand cast the stray maple twig branch, that fell from the maple tree in my front yard, in recycled sterling silver and then finished it up to highlight its rustic woodsy details ... hand crafted jewelry, in my little studio, because how it's made matters.
Sand casting is a multi step hand crafted process that involves creating a mold in sand, melting metal (in this case sterling silver) and pouring the molten metal into the sand mold.
