An interesting little Harvest Moon necklace pendant, the two sides of this reversible pendant come together to represent the Harvest Moon full moon ... on one side a little man in the moon full moon face and the other a pumpkin to represent the autumn harvest, with its ribbed skin straight from the pumpkin patch. Cool autumn season Halloween jewelry.

The Harvest Moon full moon occurs annually in either September or October so that it's the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, that transitional period between summer and autumn. It is said that strange things occur around the Harvest Moon.
Unlike other full Moons, this full Moon rises at nearly the same time, around sunset, for several evenings in a row, giving farmers several extra evenings of bright moonlight and allowing them to finish their harvests before the autumn frosts arrive.
The pumpkin is symbolic of prosperity, growth and abundance probably because it’s
resilient, finding ways to grow large in sparse soil and sharing nutrients along a connected vine that reaches into the ground to replenish itself.

- harvest moon measurements - 3/4" (19mm) including attached bail x 3/8" (10mm) x thickness 3/8" (9mm)
- the harvest moon is 3D and detailed on all sides
- metal - sterling silver (.925 silver)
- photographed with a US dime and inch ruler for scale
- charm only, chain sold separately here
- shown suspended on an oxidized sterling silver cable chain with a spring ring clasp

I hand carved a pumpkin half from a chunk of carving wax and put it together with a little full moon face and then made a sand mold of it, torch melted the metal and poured it into the sand mold ... sand casting it in sterling silver. Then I cleaned up and finished the little harvest moon ...
hand crafted jewelry because I believe how it's made matters.
