A skull under crossbones wax seal necklace pendant representing Death or Glory … a remarkable piece of history that once belonged to the 17th Lancers regiment, a first generation Lancers military group of front line soldiers from the British Army.

In the center is a skull under crossbones, Death’s Head, which represents death, above a small banner that reads OR GLORY creating the rebus motto DEATH OR GLORY. Surrounding this are flags, pistols, swords and other weapons. At the top might be the czapka, an important lance cap, and at the bottom is another banner with the words W.REG.LIGHT.DRAGOON. which represented the 17th LIGHT DRAGOONS LANCERS from 1759 - 1821

There is SO much more to write about this special wax seal, including the 17th Lancers involvement of the American War of Independence, the American Revolutionary War, in 1775 - 1783, from the Battle of Bunker Hill to Philadelphia where the 17th Lancer Captain Stapleton handed General Washington the final British notice of the cessation of hostilities on April 17th in 1783.
