Henry Cabot Lodge armorial seal - agate handle antique wax seal
Make an impression with this gorgeous 19th century antique desk wax seal depicting a small crest shield under a crown, surrounded by a legend within a clan belt with an eagle above and a banner below, within which is a motto. The seal belonged to Henry Cabot Lodge … one of Boston’s first families and a notable figure in US history.
The tiny Latin legend within the clan belt reads EXALTAT HUMILES
And I believe the tiny motto within the banner reads HONOR ET FIDES
Please review the photos carefully as they are the most important part of the description. Also, some of the antique seals are very large, some very small, and I have carefully measured each, see below.
So much mystery but I'll leave the enjoyment of the research to you.
- approximate height - 3 1/4“ (84mm)
- matrix measurement - 3/4” x 5/8” (20mm x 16mm) - it's small but detailed
- matrix metal - an ornate silver metal
- handle - a gorgeous ornately carved agate
All sales final on antique wax seals - no returns
