Wear a fabulous piece of history with a Mary holding the Christ Child medieval wax seal necklace pendant.
- description -
Mary is holding the Christ Child and a stylized palm or olive branch and it's surrounded by a Latin legend in Lombardic font + AVE MARIA GRACIA translated to HAIL MARY, FULL OF GRACE.
Hand cast from a European medieval wax seal that dates back to the 13th - 14th century. See it in the photo.
The particular medieval wax seal from which I've cast this wonderful necklace charm was unearthed after spending centuries under the ground southeast of London in Maidstone and is listed with the PAS in the UK finds database - SEAL MATRIX Unique ID: KENT-323D23
- approximate measurement - 3/4” by 7/8" (19mm x 23mm)
- wax seal charm metal - fine silver (.999 pure and recycled silver)
- photographed with an old US dime
- chain - a sterling silver cable chain with a spring ring clasp.
- select the necklace chain length or just the charm at checkout.
Impressed with history!
*The Ave Maria is a very popular Marian prayer, in Latin:
AVE MARIA, gratia plena, Dominus tecum. Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
and in English:
HAIL MARY, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and in the hour of our death. Amen.
