For the collector, a wonderful small Masonic mostly French wax seal set with 10 small glass intaglio seals ... a bit of early Victorian history!
The wax seal case is a small silver metal tube with a cork and twist top to hold the intaglio seals. 2 1/2" tall x 1/2" wide (62mm x 15mm).
There are 10 small glass intaglio seals, the image engraved on one side and blank on the backside. Each measures 1/2" (12mm). The glass intaglios are meant to mimic bloodstone and white chalcedony. The "bloodstone" seal images are pretty easy to see but the "white chalcedony" seal images were challenging so I have impressed them in pink clay to assist viewing. Sorry, these are shown in a different order than the list below.
Most of the sentiments on the intaglio seals are French but a few are in English. I'll leave the fun research of translation to you.
The imagery from left to right, top to bottom, in the 4th photo is as follows:
flying dove, mirror, candle and snuffer, another dove, peacock
the Capitoline Doves or Doves of Pliny, cherub and bird, not words but deeds, a letter, the all seeing eye.
This is a final sale, no returns.
Go make some history!
