Make an impression with this large and lovely French 18th - 19th century cross flanked by two hearts under a crown intaglio desk wax seal.

At the top is a beautiful coronet crown, this one likely belonging to a count or an earl, that sits above an escutcheon shield, within which is a cross with the tiniest little fleur de lis in the center flanked by two hearts.
In heraldry, the cross is symbolic christianity, faith and the unity of heaven and earth, the three leaves of the fleur de lis denote faith, wisdom and valor respectively, the heart is symbolic of charity and sincerity, and the coronet is a symbol of prestige and Royal or seigniorial authority.

The bronze intaglio matrix is fastened to a dark wood turned handle with some little nibbles which commensurates with age and use.
