The glass beads, handmade by artisans in Africa who gather discarded glass from around the world, grind it into frit and sprinkle it into molds that go into a handbill kiln to fuse or melt the glass.  Once removed from the kiln, the bead hole is formed and after cooling the beads are threaded onto cord.  These beads are purchased through fair trade - with respect to the artisans and the environment.
